“I’ve said this over and over again — you prefer vloggers and influencers now for your so-called unbiased content, but on our worst days as a nation, it’s the journalists who will show up. Remember that.” ani Buan.

“Let’s just be honest here. Journalists are assigned beats. They’re paid to report. Except for some, they would not go out chasing storms by themselves for the love of reporting, or for the love of country.” ani Hirro.

“People trust journalists less when it comes to political stories primarily because of the paid nature of the job. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s a job after all. But unlike vloggers/bloggers, journalists are expected to not have bias. Show even a little bias, you lose credibility, you lose your audience.” aniya.

“Second, because of the nature of the subject: politics. There’s so much room for personal biases and interpretations. Remember how some journalists showed dismay over Marcos’ win during their coverage of the election? Some of them even made side comments on air. Heck even media outfits were at war with each other over narratives! Because that’s what politics does. It divides. People see that. People sense that. They’re not stupid.” sabi niya pa.

“They still share relevant information sourced from the same local government units and government agencies as the journalists. Except vloggers/bloggers can share anything anytime because they’re not limited by beat assignments, broadcast schedules, and broadcast/post protocols. To discredit what they’re doing is like discrediting the proactive netizens helping provide updates and pictures too for everyone’s consumption. They share requests for help. They help bridge the information gap for better government and citizen response. We’re all doing something to keep everyone informed.” sabi pa niya.

“This is not the time to divide the people. Actually, just stop doing that already. It’s disgusting.
