Alessandra de Rossi spoke up on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ “makeover” of Manila Bay’s shoreline.
Alessandra de Rossi took to Twitter to call out the government for dumping synthetic white sand in Manila Bay.
For days now, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has faced various protests from the public for dumping dolomite in Manila Bay for supposed rehabilitation which is actually bringing more harm than good to the environment. And Alessandra de Rossi, for one, is having none of the government’s decision to place white sand in the area.
In a series of tweets, Alessandra slammed the government’s move to place white sand especially during these times when there are other more pressing issues to focus on.
“Pakibilis-bilisan naman ang paglatag ng white sand sa Manila Bay para sa mental health ng lahat. Baka sakaling wala nang magutom dahil busog na sa view. #ayudaparamasa,” she wrote.
The Through Night and Day star seemed to jest on Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s statement that the “white sand beach” in Manila Bay could improve people’s mental health amidst the pandemic.
Alessandra then apologized for her comment clarifying that she “supports Manila Bay.”
“Sorry kung mali ang dating nun. Joke lang naman yun. As if naman my opinion would matter, eh wala naman ako pwesto to decide. Tama naman, bayan muna, bago sarili! I support Manila Bay,” she said.
In another tweet, she joked once again on the “beach nourishment” project.
“Yah….. Beach nourishment. And sing… There are… People dying.. If you care enough for the living.. Make beach nourishment.. For you and for me! Dagat mga kapatid,” she said.
Alex went on to say that budget allocation is not a valid reason to justify their decision to push through with it.
Do you agree with Alex’s statement?
